Another build day this Sunday Sept. 11

Hello MRWA Trail-Building Volunteers!

We made great progress last Saturday with 18 volunteers working on the trail! Thanks to all who were able to join us, we really appreciate your help and enthusiasm. Our next big trail-building day will be Sunday Sept. 11. We’ll start at 8:30 am and work until around 12:30. Meeting location below.

Work will include pruning, carrying lumber, clearing already-cut brush, grubbing the trail tread and moving rocks. We may also be building boardwalks. Please bring work gloves, water and a snack. We have some extra work gloves and safety glasses on site. Please ask to borrow them on Sunday if needed.

Some tools are available, but please bring your own trail tools if you have them (loppers, shovels, mattocks, pulaskis and hammers in particular). Please label your tools so they go home with you at the end of the day.

Please RSVP (reply-all) so we know how many are coming!

We’ll meet at the corner of Norawarren Drive and Reginald, at the mailbox on Norawarren. The civic address is 37 Norawarren – although there is no house yet at that address.

A few details about the current project: We are building a 2.5-km loop singletrack trail on NS Crown Land. Most of the loop is new trail, with some upgrades to an existing trail. We have received a grant of $9000 from the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage to help pay for materials. Your labour is needed to help MRWA “match” this grant! This loop is part of the larger network that is planned for the Crown Land and Municipal Land in the McIntosh Run Watershed. Please visit our website for more details. We’re also on Facebook: @mcintoshrunwatershedassociation

If you are no longer interested or available please let me know and we will remove you from our volunteer list.

Thank you!

Was hoping to chip in on these two build days but time would not allow it.

Great project and very well organized. Is there any other way people like me can support this?

Thanks,

LMR29r

These two build days that I posted are just a few of the days we work there. If you can work week days or other weekend days let us know. After a quiet summer we are now putting in a lot of effort We just finished our first boardwalk yesterday.
