Board Positions Available with Bicycle Nova Scotia!
There are a number of positions available to more fully participate with BNS and all of the incredible work that is being done. Please read below to find out more about the positions.

President
The President shall be charged with the general management of the affairs of the Association, subject to any delegation of such duties and responsibilities to the other Board Members or any other officer or employee of the Association as the BOD may approve. The President shall preside at all meetings of the BOD and at the Annual General Meeting. The President will have ex officio status on all BNS standing and special committees.

Treasurer
The Treasurer shall keep an accurate record of all financial transactions of the Association. The Treasurer shall deposit into the BNS account, in a timely manner, all monies received. In the absence of the President, the Treasurer may preside over BOD meetings.

Secretary
The Secretary shall be the clerk of the BOD. They shall attend all meetings of the BOD and record and circulate all facts and minutes of all proceedings. The Secretary shall be responsible for giving notice of meetings and shall be custodian of the Charter and all books, reports and papers which they shall deliver, when authorized by the resolution of the BOD. In the absence of the President, the Secretary may preside over BOD meetings.
Registrar
The Registrar shall keep a record of all BNS members and affiliated clubs. They shall issue CCA licenses to competition members in accordance with the CCA rules and BNS policy. The Registrar shall issue a Certificate of Affiliation to clubs respecting the CCA rules of sponsorship and affiliation. They shall keep a record of all monies received and forward all such monies to the Treasurer in a timely manner.

BNS Marketing Director Board Position
The Marketing Director will assist in developing overall BNS marketing and communications and will work with all sectors and BNS staff to grow BNS’s profile in Nova Scotia, leading to increased individual and organizational membership. As this position has not been filled for several years, we are seeking someone who is excited to work with a non-profit organization, is an active cyclist with an understanding of competitive, recreational, and commuting cycling and has professional skills in marketing and communication. This is an ideal opportunity to get involved with growing all aspects of cycling in Nova Scotia, and assisting BNS in making Nova Scotia a cycling province for residents and visitors.
Time required: Attend all board meetings (~ 8/ year) and commit ~ 10 hrs / month to BNS Marketing & Communications
VP Road Education and Bikeways Advocacy
The VP REBA represents the education and bikeways sector. We are seeking someone with experience in cycling education and specifically with the CAN-Bike Program. Additional initiatives under the REBA sector include the Blue Route and Cycle Nova Scotia projects, both of which involve increasing our on road and trail cycling infrastructure and promotion. Experience in advocacy and government relations would also benefit this position.

VP Mountain Bike Competition

  • Attend BNS Meetings (typically once a month)
  • Form and chair a Mountain Bike Committee (MBC) made up of the following:
    • Secretary
    • Results and Media Coordinator
    • Male Athlete Rep
    • Female Athlete Rep
    • DH Rep
    • Chief Commissionaire
    • All affiliated Club Presidents
    • BNS Provincial MTB Head Coach
    • Anyone wishing to pursue a unique initiative supported by the BNS MBC
  • Maintain the BNS MTB Competition Guide
  • Assist the Event Coordinator in establishing the race calendar
  • Ensure events are advertised ahead of time on BNS/social media
  • Maintain a common standard among events
  • Select the MTB Provincial Championship race
  • Organize the medals for the Provincial Championship
  • Hold an Event Organizers Meeting prior to the start of the race season
  • Ensure Commissionaires have been assigned for each event
  • Maintain BNS Race Kit and ensure it delivered to Event Organizers prior to their race
  • Ensure race results are posted and points are tracked
  • Deal with queries directed to BNS with regards to MTB
  • Assist in organizing the end of season Award Banquet/Ceremony
