Can’t wait for the race tomorrow! I’m looking forward to a challenging climb, and some gnarly downhill (to XC standards). I see pictures of berms on the Facebook! I want to ride them. I miss the old Martock race where they sent us all the way to the top, followed by a killer downhill! One would think that a ski hill would take advantage of mountain bikers in the summer to subsidize their losses. I’m no MBA grad, so maybe I’m missing something.
Both hills have missed out on an excellent revenue stream. The excuse of insurance liability rings a little hollow in the face of many, many other ski hills doing it, imo.
Not to mention trees can/do injure skiers.
