Help moving some BB spacers

Hey! I was wondering if anyone was willing to give me a hand swapping some BB spacers to oth other side?

I don’t have the tools required to do this myself and a bit low on cash to take it into a shop right now :stuck_out_tongue:

I need to move the drive side out some to fix a chain line problem.

Thanks.

What kind of cranks? I may have what you need.

I also think I have some BB tools. Post up some pics of your BB and we’ll see what we have for ya.

Here is a photo of the BB. It’s the same type on both my bikes.

I have the wrench to take out the bottom bracket.

Do you have everything needed to get the cranks off? If not, how is the arm held onto the spindle?

Cranks look like they are held on with bolts, should be able to slide right off.

When it comes to tools designed for bike repair I don’t have much yet. Trying to start that collection soon :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup that’s a Shimano Hollowech BB, you need the BB cup tool to remove the cups and switch spacers. To pull the crank, loosen the 2 bolts, remove the preload cap (uses a special tool but you can get away with anything that fits in decently it’s only finger tight) don’t forget to lift the safety retainer tab, (just one side pops up).

The arm should slide right off, and then push on the spindle to remove the other side, it may require a very light tap with a soft mallet to get it moving.

I have the tool to remove the ‘nut’ on the pictured shimano cranks, but I’m assuming his fat bike cranks are different. I do have two different crank arm pullers if they are needed.

Oh yeah got confused there for a second I’m only talking about the crank/BB in the photo…Shimano doesn’t make fat bike cranksets or bb’s (100mm) so it might be entirely different.

Most likely a Sram GXP, the crank should be self extracting, same 16 spline bearing cup tool.

acording to the norco website it should be a Samos external BB

Didn’t think to link the manufacturer website. http://m.norco.com/bike-archives/2014/bigfoot/

Never personally dealt with one. Maybe @riderx has insight? Looks like crank extracts same as Shimano. Very likely uses same 16 spline tool for cups.

Thanks for lending the BB tools. Just swapped one spacer and adjusted the shifting and I easily use my granny again. Going to take it for a longer spin on Friday to get all my studs seated in my tires as I just finished up to but it looks like it will work just fine now.
