MEC Getting into MTB Tours

I noticed that MEC is getting into MTB travel packages. Interesting since they are a retailer.

Why would they go this route?
See that they look for “excellent fitness” and skill level. So they are aiming to attract experienced MTBrs.
Are the prices worth it? It would not be as good as the Moab trips but interesting to see where they put the prices.

I looked, prices seem comparable or higher than Mt trip through Sacred Rides, but I’m going to Guatemala, not BC. I think availability of trails and groups in BC makes it not worth it: much easier to show up and hook up with local groups or find trails for solo exploration.

Having ridden/lived in those areas, and knowing what accommodation prices are like, that is a pretty good deal. For someone wanting a sampling of what the area has to offer, it would be a fun trip.

EDIT: Yeah, you want a pretty good fitness level, you can rack up the vertical very very fast.
