I live by the Sarah Drive MacIntosh run entrance and Iāll tell you thereās an awful a lot of people going in their biking. Wtf guys.
Cycling seems to bring out some of the most entitled people in sport.
Pretty expensive bike ride.
Just think of all the bikes and parts you could buy with that money
You could buy two new Trek Fuel 9.9 XO AXS. (Not sure if this is a good thing)
You can get a santa cruz nomad xo build with axs and flight attendant with reserve wheels
Some drone footage on IG of the whopper fire zoneā¦.
Wow
Meanwhile, this fucking idiot thinks heās too important to follow the same rules.
Attention seeking behaviour.
Or is he? ![]()
Or is he what?
I think intelligent people can have a good conversation about the fact that this woods ban is being implemented in a heavy handed way when the reality could have been much more nuanced if govāt took the time to care. Iām impacted by this every single day, as Iāve had to change my commute riding patterns to much more dangerous streets (including one where I was hit by an F-150 three years ago and suffered a concussion), but I donāt want to be the dipshit that inadvertently causes a fire if my derailleur strikes a rock and causes sparks, for example. Iāve seen that happen.
But, Iāll follow the ban, because Iām not an attention seeking dipshit.
Iām not disagreeing with you. Just youād think posting all that, the right person would see it and theyād nail him with the fine since they have tons of proof heās been in woods.
This is even adding more to his attention seeking
I look at it as a combined fine for every day the dude is out blasting about his BS on social media like an entitled twat. Heās racking it up for sure.
I was supportive of the woods ban, but I am losing it pretty quickly. I am no conspiracy wacko, and I am a rule follower generally, but I think its enough now. The vast majority of the province is at low fire risk on DNRās own site, sure, a few areas are still high risk, but the blanket ban is now a little silly, NB is open, PEI never closed, and here we are in NS, canāt walk your dog in Shubie park because there is still a fire 200 kms away. I get the sensitivities around the first responders, and all that, but what is happening now is just not logical.
The Canadian Wildland Fire Information System
is currently showing the wildfire risk in the majority of the province as moderate to high, with a couple of low patches and an area of extreme risk in the valley. Donāt take this as me fully endorsing the woods ban, in fact I feel that itās overkill, but the wildfire risk is currently dynamic and we need to recognize that. Support for woods bans will continue to drop if the province doesnāt take a better approach to risk management going forward. Iāve written to my MLA about this and I encourage others to do the same.
I was using the DNR info, which still says low in a lot of areas.
I fully support the ban in areas it is required, its just common sense.
My issue is pretty straight forward. If this entitled POS can do this blatantly, post it on an open profile with no fines then what am I doing? I feel like a sucker to be frank.
My thoughts exactly. And Iād like to see data on how many people who have gotten this big bad fine will actually have to pay it.
Iām guessing none of them.
My reason for saying this is look at the person who started the tantallon fires. Literally no punishment in the slightest. Sold her newly built home and bought somewhere else.
Not a fine laid.
Nothing.
This is my backyard post-2023 wildfire. The person who started the fire was well known for burning garbage. She sold her rebuilt house for over $1 million, and many of us in my neighbourhood, even those of us who didnāt lose our homes are still thousands of dollars in the hole cleaning up from the fire. Itās a sore point every time I look out my windows.
