Loving this thread!

Dug out some throwbacks. 1989ish Reflex TWX - originally built with full XT including over the bar XT thumb shifters. The chain stay lug failed at the bottom bracket. I sent the whole chain stay back to Easton as it had the serial number on it to get a cash “crash replacement”

Used the cash to get the 1993ish Mongoose IBOC Team sx frame. Upgraded to thread less headset and a Rock Shox Quadra and later a Mag 21

Love it! I have a couple klunks myself. What are you running for your internal shifting?

Sachs 7 speed. Runs awesome after a little help from Halifax Cycles!

Later 90’s Brodie Expresso. All XT, with a stem as long as the top tube. Original Judy fork long gone and BLT light system with the heavy water bottle battery that won’t charge anymore.

One of my klunks, 80s replica schwinn frame. I’ve made a few changes since this pic. Including a BB adapter so I can use sealed BB with a crankset I can replace chainring, and a shorter stem. I used an adapter from 1" to 1 1/4" to at the headtube to allow the use of different stems and the motocross style bar.

Where bikes come to die or cool wall art?
And this guy , got to throw a working bike in there as well. Might as well be this legend.

You used to be able to get replacement batteries from galaxy battery in Burnside.

Ah, purple anodized parts

Wow, you were definitely an early adopter of full suspension. Love the front fork on the Cannondale!

What year is your Gemini? There was a recall on 2002 and 2003 models. I checked all the ones that were sold but some may have gone out before the recall. Might be a warranty frame in it for you. Lol

With all this riding from home I decided I wanted a gravel, XC, dirt road, crusher dust or whatever you want to call it bike. So here it is.

Not sure I’ve posted this here before. My fat bike turned road bike/gravel grinder. I’m having way more fun on this than I ever did on my old road bike

This is my Franken Bike. I received it from my sister as it didn’t fit her. I got it with Shimano XTR wheels/hubs, and a 130mm carbon Cannondale Lefty installed. It didn’t handle well, but it was very light. Because of too much suspension travel for the frame and tiny 26" wheels combined into something that was difficult to pedal and ride. I sold the wheels and Lefty on Ebay. Couldn’t find a reasonable priced rigid lefty fork so the wheels had to go. They exist, but are too expensive. Installed some Mavic Corssmax SLR XC race wheels I had kicking around, combined with a free Kona Project 2 fork from a friend, this bike is a beast of a commuter/gravel grinder. It’s not as fast on the crusher dust as my late Caadx was, but she’s fun either way.

Equipped with XTR shifters, derailleurs, and pedals.
Carbon FSA SLK cranks and seatpost.
Carbon derailleur hanger for HUGE weight savings.
Carbon Fuji Mt Fuji SL frame.
Avid Elixir CR brakes.
Continental Country Plus rubbers.
And a very comfortable and heavy as iron Brooks saddle.
Mavic Corssmax SLR wheel set.
