@IanL and Sportwheels will be hosting a casual rail trail ride every Thursday at 7pm (meet at 6:45). On alternating weeks it will be at the BLT trail or the Salt Marsh trail. This week is the BLT.

Here’s the FB event page if you’re interested.

Thanks! This might actually be nice to take Larissa out for some rides to get her exposed to riding for the first time!

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot. Is this road or mtb?

Based on the trails this is crusher dust type riding, probably at a slower rate.

BLT is a mix of crusher dust and some paved sections.
Salt Marsh is a mix of crusher dust and some gravel sections.

I went on a few of these rides last year. When there was enough people and varied skill levels or desired riding speeds, we broke into two groups. It is just like the ECMTB MTB rides though, no rider gets left behind.

I used both my mountain bike, as well as my road bike (with my ‘big’ 35C/32C tire setup mind you) on these rides. Road bike was perfectly fine on the BLT trail (I even rode it once on my 28C tires), mountain is a better fit for the Salt Marsh Trail as it is a bit harsher/rougher in sections, although if you are adventurous it can be done on a road bike with bigger/cross type tires (it was a bumpy, interesting ride).

I am finally back on the site. And as @Jetter says, the rides are casual paced and suitable for any style of bike you like to ride. Comfier is usually nicer, but I have done both trails on my road bike as well over the years. Most of the people riding seem to be on Hybrid style bikes with 35C tires and do very well, and both trails are in excellent shape this year.

This wee we are back on the BLT Trail due to Bike Week. Then over to Dartmouth the following week.
