I’d love to join you, but work beckons I’m afraid.
I do lead weekly rides every Thursday evening for Valley Stove and Cycle though.
With the recent dampness there will be parts in the Gorge that will be slick. Let me know if you decide to ride there and I will try to get you a guide, and or drop by the shop and will give you some suggestions as to route.
I would suggest trying Rervoir Park in Wolfville as well. It is fairly resistant to the weather and has some nice singletrack sections with a skills park. Not as long as the Gorge and it’s associated trails, but still great.
Drop by the shop regardless Jordan and I will go over some maps etc and show you some trail systems to rip.
I was in the Gorge on Monday evening. It’s really wet and leaf covered, and most likely will be until spring rolls around. I’ve just been climbing up the middle and hitting the other trails in the area instead. P2, Upper P2, pumphouse and bird sanctuary are all much more weather resistant than the main Gorge trails, although they are all covered in leaves and a bit slippery lately.
I think riderx is on the right path when suggesting Reservoir Park over the Gorge right now. It’s much better suited to the wetter/colder seasons, and should be much more enjoyable to ride.
I live in Sackville, and work in Kentville, so I sometimes do after-work rides.
Irishman’s Rd. near Windsor is along our route to and from. It’s a trail that is coming along really nicely with the work that Trailflow is doing in there. It’s only 5 minutes off the 101.
Pumphouse/Seven Bridges/Bird Sanctuary is a really nice, not technical ride. And it’s just off the highway by Coldbrook. That would be a good one for you. It starts at the end of Mitchell Ave., a few minutes off the highway on the way in to Kentville. Pumphouse Loops are just behind the pumphouse at the end of the road. Seven Bridges/Bird Sanctuary is just down the rail-trail in the dirt road past the sand pit. Again, only 5 minutes off the 101.
If you’re just looking for a rail-trail ride (only if trails are wet, and I’m desperate), you can also get on the rail-trail at the end of Mitchell Ave. The rail-trail goes all the way in to Wolfville. The Miner’s Marsh section starting behind the courthouse in Kentville is scenic.
I would join you, but most days I don’t get off work until 3:30 or 4:30, and I have a commitment Thursday nights.
