Jigsaw 5 and Knuckle Buster at Bowater are running ok for early season conditions.
Totally agree with this, just got back from there and it was fantastic, thanks guys!
I would say youād be fine with that setup at spider lake, itās very packed down
According to Bike Truroās Instagram, skinny tires are good.

You could ride skinnys in the AM when its still frozen on the more well travelled trails. Youād be floundering when its milder or if you try to ride the trails w less traffic.
Most of Whopper was packed down enough to be awesome on skinnies today. Deeper into Farside got quite dicey, but daminion and beginning of Farside were great.
Anyone out on McIntosh or Whopper today? Heading out tomorrow AM, any recommendations?
Guessing McIntosh is great, and Whopper is fairly wetā¦
With the cold Iām thinking black ice at Mac Run and Whooper had a little slush when I hiked it yesterday. With the cold today Iām thinking tomorrow morning might be ideal. The only ice really was on the fire road and maybe one or two spots in the trails.
I rode Fight trail today and there were some dangerously icy spots but overall itās still running pretty nice.
I was leaning toward Whopper so this is good to hear.
Black ice was a concern for sure, prob wait til a decent temp rise, supposed to be relatively warm tmw.
Cheers!
Bowater is ice free and running fast.
Just a few easy to spot ice patches at McIntosh, which were melting away nicely by midday.
Is winter over yet?
Whopper is ok. There is ice on the fire road, power line, and throughout the trails on exposed rock. Thereās also the occasional wet patch.
Norrawarren to the bridge is pure hero dirt, full throttle
Go get ya some
Just finished at norawarren. The ground is starting to get soft and mucky⦠when I started my ride it was -2. But quickly warmed up to +3
Anyone ridden Evil Birch lately? Wondering what the conditions are like, I havenāt ridden there in 15yrs.
Thx
Havenāt been there since last year, but thereās some more recent info in the below thread about the entrance being blocked by the quarry operators, the trail being removed from trailforks, etc.
I recently walked it, entering from the highway. The trail is a bit overgrown in sections and some of the bridges are in poor shape.
Someone put up this nice sign, or maybe Iāve never noticed it while biking.
Conditions at Empire Trails were perfect today! Lots of cars there too.
Frankie hasnāt called it yet, but EC is forecasting up to 15cm of snow on Saturday. Alerts for: Halifax Metro and Halifax County West - Environment Canada
