There’s a difference between a “cheater” line and a “chicken” or “B” line. If the alternate line around the steep rolldown that @muddy mentioned above is the one I’m thinking of, it’s a builder-constructed B-line, not a cheater line.

@invisiblethreat this is exactly what I am suggesting. There is no shame in dismounting and walking. We’ve all done it at some point.

Even better, ride with a more skilled rider who can ride it and follow their line. It’s a no fail learning technique.

Ugh. I fucked up and failed massively at communication here. In my mind I was using cheater/chicken/B/ride around interchangeably. This is my bad.
I support “sanctioned alternative routes” where necessary/useful.
