Ride Wrap makes a product that seems to be the good bits from all of the chainstay wrap ideas people use. I’ve yet to use it as my new bike came with a nice stuck on rubber one, but when the inevitable peels up like it has on all of my other bikes i’ll probably just use the Ride Wrap stuff. I used tubes for years but they just look bulky and overkill to me now. I did use old road bar grip tape for a while that I salvaged from the shop I was at for light weight protection, but it ripped really easy.

I have this on both my bikes. I love em! Really keeps the bike quiet specially on my Hardtail
