ECMTB rad people poll

Putting together a mountain bike story in quotes and pics and would love to hear the voices of ECMTB, in particular to answer this:

How has ECMTB impacted your life or mountain bike experiences in a positive/“stoke-ful” way?

There could be word cloud potential here :slightly_smiling_face:
Thanks!

I wonder if Jeff or Adam have an archive of the old site? There were some wild threads.

Some of the old site was captured here. Looks like mostly the front page and not the fourm but it might be in there if you a bit more digging.

I do have a backup somewhere, but it would probably be difficult to deploy with that old forum and gallery software we used. The question is, is the media it’s on still stable …

Zip disk? lol.

lol. Probably a CDR, transferred from Syquest 135!

I’m a bit late here. But I’ll chime in.

I used to check in on this form a lot back in maybe 2005- 2010 when I was pretty young. Growing up riding a lot of dirt jumps I would always hear the guys I was trying to fit in with (lol) talking about ECMTB and posting their pics and builds on here so it was pretty big for me back then.

I got out of riding for around 10 years or so, got extremely out of shape, developed some drug and alcohol problems (that’s a different story but I feel like it’s important) then around 2018 decided to turn my life around because I saw where I was heading. Got sober, back in somewhat decent shape and then When the pandemic hit us I was going nuts being inside all the time so I started browsing marketplace. Ended up buying a very old giant reign and from there I was hooked. Found my way back to this form and loved to see it still active with a lot of the OG members still here.

Coming back into the scene and seeing all the new trails and spots to ride was super wild to me. I still remember 2021 being one of the most fun years on a bike I’ve ever had. Going from an old giant reign to a new giant reign and getting all the new tech and just realizing how far bikes have come was a huge trip.

Anyway, I got completely hooked and was posting pictures from rides here super often and really enjoyed it. I ride alone 80% of the time and honestly really enjoy doing so but being able to come here and post pictures from rides and see where everyone else is riding made me feel like I was part of a community. Then eventually running into members out on the trails and chatting with them was cool too. I never was a social butterfly or anything but I feel like i know a lot of you that I’ve never met in person due to this form and if I were to meet you in person it would probably feel like I’ve known you for a long time.

I’ve come here for advice and tips as I’m not the greatest at wrenching on bikes and you guys have helped me figure out things and compatibility issues I’ve run into along the way.

Long story short this is a wicked community and I check it pretty much daily with no fail. Anytime I talk to someone just getting into riding I will always refer them here as I think it’s the perfect starting point to be in the know for our scene here in NS.

Hope to meet more of you out there eventually and get some laps in :right_facing_fist::left_facing_fist: :victory_hand:

Speaking of Nimzie, I ran in to him in Cape Breton last week. He spotted the Balfa minuteman on the roof and asked where I got it before we both realized who we were. It was awesome to catch up with him for a few minutes.

He sent me a pic of the Chap and MM on your car. So cool to see those rigs again.
