eGO electric recumbent trike

I helped prototype some of the electronics on this bike:

I got to ride it around a bit as well. It’s a blast. The rear wheel is completely powered by the battery. There’s no increased power input from the user to go up hills. The motor just draws more current to maintain an RPM. So you can fly up hills like they’re nothing. Really fun.

Sounds like a fun project. Does it draw from the riders effort to charge or supply the bus? Or is it pedal for speed control only?

It charges the batteries as well (only a small amount though). The speed control signal is actually derived from the amount of current the rider is generating to charge the battery.
