I found them to have more room, especially width. My little toe felt squeezed in a 43 free rider but not in a 43 fr pro.

Think freerider pros have more toe protection as well
Pros also don’t turn into a 10 lb sponge when they get the least bit wet. I have both (my original Freeriders are 8 years old and still kicking) and the Pros are leaps and bounds beyond the originals.

I had original freeriders and they were a solid shoe. But like @brightwhite said, the pros are leaps and bounds better.
