I’m signed up to lead the 34 again this year.
No mention of feed station this year. Are we to pack accordingly?
It says “There will not be a food station at the top of Orange Jelly” in the notes so I guess not
Thanks! I stopped reading at e-bike.
Clearly I need to read slower and drink more coffee…derp…
The ebike rule is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Some of us are old and out of shape trying to get back into biking. I understand not wanting ebikes like saurons in there but a class 1 pedal assist only, fuck them.
MRWA’s hands are tied due to the land use agreements. Blame HRM and the province for being behind the times as usual.
There’s no restrictions on e-bikes in the Trails Act.
See clause 6(f) of the act you link. MRWA has a Land Use Agreement that they have to abide by, and it includes restrictions on e-bikes.
I picked the wrong weekend to be away, Fondo & corn maze..f@ck… hoping for rain, so I can make the rain date..
Sure. But was this restriction put in place by the province, or by MRWA? The land use agreements I’ve worked on were drafted by the trail association and presented to the land owners. It seems odd to me that the province and city would impose this restriction on their own accord when they haven’t put it in place elsewhere.
Out of curiousity do you know what the route is at the nora warren end? I might volunteer some time again this year to leaf blow the trails
Thank you in advance but no pressure. The 34km route will cover all the trails at the Norrawarren end.
Im off on friday. Weather permitting ill attempt to get there
FYI the Fondo is being postponed to Sat Nov 8 due to the weather.
Couldn’t make the original date? No problem! Mother nature brought some much needed rain, postponing the Granite Fondo to this Saturday, November 8th.
There’s still time to register! Please register via this form no later than Thursday October 30th so that we can manage the rides and make sure everyone gets in on the post ride BBQ.
BBQ! We will have a BBQ sponsored by Cavicchis Meats at Hartlen Park after the ride. Enjoy a tasty grillable while you warm up, reminisce, and share your ride.
Pace and Guides. The guides will keep a social, chill pace. If you are new to the McIntosh Run trails, we recommend you stay close to a guide - this event is a great opportunity to have a guided ride of the trails! Please note that previous experience of riding in the McIntosh Run trails (or similar systems elsewhere) is required, as these are technical trails and the routes are not suitable for novice riders.
ROUTE OPTIONS!
- 34 km: Ride nearly all the sanctioned McIntosh Run trails, some in both directions. Includes expert (black) trails.
- 22 km: Mostly blues (some harder “dark” blues), no black trails.
- 10 km: Greens and blues.
Click on the registration form link for more details and to reserve your spot!
We look forward to seeing you there!
