How old is whopper dropper?

Anyone know when the whopper trails were started?

There are some old structures just off death march between it and the powerlines. Must have been one of the first in the area (along with Wrandees).

Those were ill conceived freeride stunts built around 10-12 years a go.

Not sure on the age of the Whopper trail system… I’m sure the main trail has been in existence for a long time in some form.

I can recall back 15 years as a mountain bike destination. I had heard rumours of trails there a couple of years prior to that.

I remember riding in there in the mid 90’s. But that area has apparently been popular with hikers who use the same trails almost since the beginning of Halifax being a city.

Those got built somewhere around 01-02 I think, not sure who built them, but nobody really rode them. Some were incomplete, I rode them a bunch of times back then, but it wasn’t a popular spot. Fight trail has an old section on the purcell’s cove side that has some big banger stunts, again, not ridden much, they are still there too I think.
Stunts were super popular in the early 2000’s, wrandees had a lot too, all torn down by HRM I believe. I miss those days.

Cool, thanks.

Some more trail archaeology questions…

What is the start of the lake loop down to the view of suzies called? I’ve heard it referred to as “Lab Pass”

What is the trail after the Suzies Lake view that heads North West to the power lines? I’ve head it called “Bustin’ Out”

How about the Trail that is the rest of lake loop from Suzies back to where it comes out just above the rock garden.

Cheers.

I don’t think I ever rode the Whopper Dropper in the 90’s. Wrandees was a popular spot back then I remember. I also remember riding in Clayton Park where there is now a Home Depot, Highschool, and a million apartments. Another common loop we did was with Bicycles Plus where we would ride to Jacks Lake then over to Kearney Lake on the Bluewater Road and ride along the lake to the boat club. Them through Hemlock Ravine and back into Bedford along the road. Good times.
