Is there not a huge water hole close to the turnoff from Hiking Trail Road, before you start climbing? That used to be the worst and it never dried out. The other ones do occasionally.
The road you propose has one big water hole in it and is rougher/looser in places than Tote Road. It’s rideable though.

Maybe that first one in the picture I posted was. I can’t recall for sure. I do remember there being a giant one right by that intersection though. I’ll make note when I take my other bike through next week
Sure is, it’s a stream crossing.
The one by the intersection with Dynamite Trail is a swamp, literally. Last summer during the drought was the first time I’ve seen it dry.

Cyclesmith used to love holding races on shitty muddy courses back in the 90s, maybe it’s a homage to that? (Jimmy’s Roundtop, Dollar Lake/Swamp, Hatfield Farms)

Ride#2 went much better. I took the hybrid, added my clipless pedals to it, ran 45psi in the 700c x 40 tires. The climbs were much easier and rail trail was considerably faster. The downhill sections was terrifying on this suspension/route setup though.Finished in 53 minutes. I’m going to sign up tonight, hopefully they get enough numbers to put it on.

Anyone hear any updates? I know they were short of the 50 registrations on May 1st, but I haven’t heard anything about cancelling. Hopefully it’s still a go!
