How many more do they need?

Looks like they have 40 registered as of this morning

So you mean there’s still a chance I don’t have to go and embarrass myself after all?

I’m hoping they just go ahead with it at this point.

Not sure why there is a requirement for 50 participants.

Staging any cycling event has fixed costs. If you don’t get enough participants, it’s pretty hard to justify hosting it.

I think it is a fundraiser so they have to make enough money to cover the cost and raise the funds.

Anyone hear if they reached quorum? I think deadline was today. Saw some social media from Cyclesmith teasing some swag/event gear a few days ago, but nothing in terms of a go/no-go.

I checked today and it was at 45

Registration is closed now. With the race in 3 days I think we would have heard if it was cancelled.

I’m hoping the weather forecast changes a bit, might be a cool soggy day.

Tha fuck is up with this weather.

All systems go. Weather even shifted nicely. I’m hoping to make it at least 4 loops, but that might be a bit ambitious!

Anyone else have a goal in mind?

I caught a wicked cold from my toddler or one of her toddler pals and am barely outta the woods, so I’m hoping for 1 lap. 2 if my lung capacity comes back overnight. Still stoked to get out there.

What’s everyone planning to ride tomorrow?

I’ve got a drop-bar hardtail, 27.5x2.2 Conti Race Kings (30psi was too high on the only trial lap I did a few weeks ago, so I’m gonna probably go ~25)

I’m taking my hybrid. 700c x 42 tires. Run about 45psi. It’s a bit sketchy on the back section but much faster on the other 10k

Yeah that was my experience. 30 was great, even on the rough stuff, and even more would’ve been nice on the rail / gravel, but on that descent with the loose gravel it felt a bit sketchy.

Yeah, I may as well be riding rigid with the POS suntour 80mm spring fork on this bike. By the time I’m done the rough section my wrists are a bit sore. I get off and walk around the first water hole, almost kept my feet dry for the whole loop that way

Trying to pick between a 90s mountain bike with 2.2 Ikons and a modern rigid mtb with 27.5x2.2 Ikon / 2.4 rekon. Will probably go the safe route with the modern bike

Did my lap. Happy with my result and wish I could’ve done more. Think I’d do it again next year if they hold it. Should’ve brought bug spray. Hope some of y’all are still out there.

Managed 5 laps, 58:30 on the last one. It was a great event, they already said there will be one next year!
