Sitting here with my tasty beer thinking how much fun I have had on my phat bike all ready this winter and I haven’t even gotten my winter tires on yet. The fact I have been out riding in conditions that you couldn’t have with a ( normal ) bike is a win in it’s self but how much fun it is on top of that is such a huge bonus. These things are perfect winter bikes for our region and it’s great to be back on a Canadian brand.
aha, the legendary @darkmyth bigfoot just resurface. i am definitely getting one pretty soon.
I’ve been up in Fredericton for the holiday and fat bikes are hugely popular. I went on a group ride with 20 or more riders and was the only one on skinny (2.6") tires. They are definitely the way to go there, especially with somewhere around 40km of groomed singletrack to ride. The amount of snow they get is much more than in the Halifax area too.
I’m still on the fence about fat bikes for Halifax winters but totally agree that they are fun to ride and I will probably own one some day. When the right deal comes around at the right time.
I personally am loving mine. I’m finding it to be a huge blast even when there’s no snow or ice. With a nice fast rolling tire they are a blast the other 7+ months of the year as well!
