Looking for a trail suggestion

I’m currently working on healing up a knee injury. Progress is going well. I’ve been slowly increasing the amount of biking I’m doing lately. I’ve been riding at Point Pleasant a lot since it’s close by, tame, and the steepest section there is a good incline to give me an idea of how my knee is feeling. I’d like to go for a ride tomorrow but bikes aren’t allowed at Point Pleasant on weekends. I could go on the rails to trails but I usually find them a little on the boring side. I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on some decent doubletrack or fire roads that might be a little more entertaining than rails to trails?

Pockwock Lake apparently has some fire roads? Where abouts would be a good spot to enter there?

I also came across this video of Indian Lake which looks like a promising trail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWv6ZsXhICE

Any suggestions would be great! Nothing overly technical for now unfortunately :unamused:

Try Shubie park or Salt Marsh Trail are nice easy rides.

If you are thinking Pockwock, they are gravel and can handle truck traffic as Water Comission vehicles go in there. There are some decent climbs without anything technical. Best place to enter is off the 101 at the Mount Uniacke exit. If you turn around and come on the on ramp towards Halifax, there is an orange gate on the right. You enter there. Lots to explore and easy to follow…

Yeah I was thinking of heading to Shubie. It just might be a little on the busy side being a Saturday with really good weather and all.

Check out Hemlock Ravine park…very similar to Point Pleasant. Also the Bowater logging roads in Upper Tantallon are good for gravel grinding.

Ended up going to Hemlock Ravine. Those trails were a surprising amount of fun. Twisty and winding enough to keep me entertained but still tame. Perfect while my knee isn’t feeling 100% just yet.

Probably should have been on my brakes a bit more in some sections in case I came across someone walking. But some of the little hills and turns were too much fun to slow down!:smirk:

I’ve done the Indian Lake Trail (“Across from Exhibition Park” trail in Randy Gray’s book), but it’s been a few years. From the video, it looks the same as I last rode it. Non-technical, straight doubletrack. Almost no turns. A gradual climb going in, except for the big downhill at the end (1:50) in the video. Opposite going out. I wondered if anyone had built a proper bridge to get over the water crossing in the middle. I guess not. The alternative to balancing over the logs is to walk around through a bog, usually getting wet feet. There are some big puddles to ride or walk around when wet. Nice trail for newbies, or if you’re just looking for a fairly relaxed ride.
