Mountain Bike Halifax Update & AGM - Nov 25

If you are interested in getting involved and making a difference for the mountain biking community, I’m wondering if you would be willing to sit on the board of Mountain Bike Halifax. We meet a couple of times a year and try to assign functions to individuals or groups. The overall idea is to try to look for opportunities to help make positive change. It’s not onerous and rewarding to see the work lead to tangible results.

Our AGM is November 25th at 7:30pm. At that time, we will be adding a few positions to the board.

MBH was founded in 2018. Here are a list of what we have achieved to date.

  • Financed the Run Bridge.
  • Part of the construction team for the Run Bridge.
  • Financed the building of the roller coaster bridge and climb trail just north west of Flat Lake.
  • Had a movie night.
  • We have been working with the province to try to develop biking trails in Long Lake Provincial Park.* We are working through and close to finished a comprehensive Mountain Biking Strategy for HRM staff.
  • We have produced 3 marketing / awareness videos for MRWS. (One of these was for a successful financing proposal that MRWA made to the province).
  • We financed the purchase of a Rescue Litter for Halifax Fire Station 6 (Spryfield)
  • We made a short promotional video about the purchase.

Like a lot of groups, our activities slowed down substantially during the 18 months where the city and province had Covid restrictions. But we are looking to get active again and would appreciate your involvement.

Good to hear that long lake is still on the radar.
