Nine Mile River Work Day tomorrow (Sat Aug. 12)

We are having a volunteer work day this Saturday, August 12 at 9:00am-12:00pm.
We’re going to work on Pitcher Plant again this week. There was some work left after our last work day, and unfortunately, the recent rain has caused more erosion, although not as bad as it was for our last work day. We’ll do some drainage work to try to reduce the damage from future rain. If we have enough volunteers, we may also repair some erosion ruts on the “Big Hill”. We could also trim some of the grass and branches on the sides of the trail on the right side of Pitcher Plant – Galen took care of the grass on the left side and out to the Big Hill (thanks Galen!!), but there’s still some to do on the right side. If there were folks or kids who didn’t want to do heavy lifting, but could use loppers safely to trim back some of the branches, they would be welcome!
Our work site is only a 5-minute walk into the trail. If we have time/volunteers to work on the Big Hill, it’s a 15-minute walk from the trailhead. We have a wheelbarrow and tools, but another wheelbarrow and digging tools would be helpful. We have a battery trimmer, but if someone had a battery or gas trimmer that would also be helpful.
Feel free to meet us on trail, come late, or leave early. Any volunteer time you can offer is most welcome!
