Nine Mile River Work Evening Thursday & Work Day Sunday

Two opportunities for trail work this week:

Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00pm. Planning to take some rocks off a rockpile at the edge of the farm field next to the trail and move them to the crusher dust cache at the bottom of the Big Hill. The rocks are valuable for rehabilitating soft and muddy sections, which we plan to work on in the coming weeks. The work site is about a 15-minute walk in. If you would like to help and could bring a wheelbarrow, that would be great. If you don’t have a wheelbarrow, just bring yourself. I will have tools.

Sunday morning, 9:30-1:00pm. Planning to patch broken boards on two boardwalks near the entrance to the Hemlock Loop. We’ll need to reclaim wood from old decommissioned boardwalks, and transport the boards to the broken boardwalks. The broken boardwalks also have bumpers on their sides that we will want to take off. The work sites are about a 30-minute walk in along the “Old Comeau Road” woods road. The woods road is minimally maintained and has lots of water holes that we will need to walk around, so waterproof footwear would be good to wear.

As always, feel free to come late and/or leave early. Any time that you can contribute is valuable.
