Picked up my first full suspension mountain bike

It is a 2012 giant trance x4. Haven’t had a chance to get it out on the trails yet but I can’t wait to test it out

Nice looking bike. You’ll love the full suspension.

Perfect, you are going to have a ton of fun on that.

Nice looking ride Ryan… get it up to the trail and rip Snakeline!!

You’ll have a hoot on that thing, for sure!

I think I’m going to head up there tonight in a little bit

How was the test ride?

It was awesome. This bike is so much fun. I rode from my place to the trail. Bike is decent on road too with the lockout on the front fork. On the trails it is amazing. For me it’s the perfect choice, I don’t do any crazy downhill so the fairly light setup works great with enough suspension in the rear for when I want to push it a bit. It climbs hills a lot better than i expected. It doesn’t Bob for apples on the way up. The only little nitpick I would have is that there is a bit of chain slap. All in all I don’t think I could have bought a better bike for my riding style. And I got a good deal to boot!

Awesome! Good to hear the bike suits you so well… could you shorten the chain a wee bit to take up some of that slack?

Get a neoprene chainguard thing from Lizard Skins and you’ll be set. Make sure you get the superjumbo version. Or make your own from an old tube or tape.

Sweet bike!

Don’t bother with buying a chain guard. Get some sticky backed velcro and stick that to the frame. Use the fuzzy side. Works great. Won’t move, looks tidy and it lighter too.

Does anyone sell them locally?

Interesting… Do you have a picture of an example??

I don’t have any on my current bikes as they have integrated bolt on guards form the factory but here’s a shot of it done nicely.

Looks good.

I want to take off the third chain ring and add a bash guard too. Anyone stock then local or will I have to order?

Should be able to get a bash guard locally. I would suggest getting a metal one (i.e. blackspire or similar). I’ve broken the plastic ones before.
