Couple of Surveys on HRM Shape your City that peeps might find relevant.

Connecting Chain of Lakes Trail (COLT) to Long Lake Park
There is an early plan to connect the branch from COLT along Dunbrack to reach Long Lake Park. Depending on which option(s?) are selected, this connection will better serve recreational riders or those who want a faster, more direct option. Survey Ends May 19.

Would certainly help smooth things when riding from chain of lakes trail to long lake to ultimately get to McIntosh run

Woodside Ferry to Shearwater Flyer Trail
There are new options to connect the Woodside Ferry with the Shearwater Flyer Trail. The new option would consist primarily of a two-way facility on the harbour side of Pleasant St. Survey Ends April 15

That makes a lot of sense. What I really want is a connection from the Mainland Common trail to the COLTA. A protected bike lane on that stretch of Dunbrack would be the bare minimum, as the on-ramps to the 102 are pretty scary to cross with a bike. A giant flyover bridge or a tunnel is the only solution. That would make my commute 18% more enjoyable.
