West Hants Trails Association

Calling all West Hants Mountain Bikers! There are trail plans being developed for West Hants and as a member of the Board of Directors for the WHTA I have my eye on developing mountain bike trails in West Hants. If you ride in West Hants please consider joining up, membership is free and the more members we have the more we can get done.

for more information email us at westhantstrails@gmail.com

The purpose of the West Hants Trails Association is to develop and promote trails. West Hants has a beautiful
natural environment with an abundance of forest, hills, lakes, rivers and coastline and therefore great potential
for trails and a trail system. Already volunteer groups are working on a variety of community rails. The West
Hants Trails Association was established to bring together individuals and groups interested in trail
development and to support their efforts in building trails for the benefit of all.
The West Hants Trails Association was incorporated under the Societies Act in July 2013. There is a volunteer
Board of Directors.
The objectives of the Association are:

  • To develop and promote trails;
  • To support organizations associated with trail development and use;
  • To encourage private public partnerships for trail development; and
  • To promote healthy active lifestyles and environmental awareness.

The West Hants Trails Association is a member of the Nova Scotia Trails Federation and shares their Vision that
“ All Nova Scotians and visitors have access to and value diverse and well-managed recreational trails for the
pursuit of: Health, Education and Environment, Arts and Culture, Recreation, Transportation and Tourism”

As a new organization with a big mandate, we are looking for members who
share the vision and are willing to help in any way, whether building trail,
attending meetings, writing grant applications, making phone calls or turning
out for events. Together, we can make West Hants a great place for trails.
Membership in the West Hants Trails Association is free and open to all.

Awesome!

Great to see! I will be joining and will aim to help out in any way I can.

If you ride or do any outdoor activities in West Hants I’d ask for a minute of your time to fill out out Trail Use Survey here.

or on Facebook.

The Trails Plan, approved by Council December 10th, gives an overview of 18 trail sites and forms the foundation for future decisions regarding trail development and promotion in West Hants.

There are a few areas where mountain biking is mentioned specifically if you want to skip to the good parts they are:

Looks great! Thanks for the updates and I look forward to riding some sweet trails.

Our website is up and running!

Very nice…will take a better look at it and see how I and the site can contribute to your success.

We’re moving right along with the process for the trails at the Irishman’s Road site. It’s public consultation time! If you’re in the area Wednesday June 4, 5-8pm at the Three Mile Plains Community Hall, 4474 Highway 1. It is an “open house” type of event to learn more and give input.

I’ll try to make it.

Here’s an update on the trails and trail building scheduled to happen this year at Irishman’s Rd:
