Woods travel ban

Looks like they’ve decided to close the woods again. Guess it’s back to the road for a little while.

Never heard of that before.

Happened in 2003 as well.

Does this ban include trails in Municipal Parks like Victoria Park in Truro and the Gorge in Kentville???

Obviously Fight, Whopper and others are off limits…

Been many moons since we had a woods travel ban, bust out the creaky old road bikes.

This is only Annapolis and Queens counties as far as I can tell. No need to resort to road bikes.

Arg, maybe I read it wrong… all woods.

Yeah, it’s all woods in the province.

Not to be an ass here but is the Fight Trail “in the woods”?

Does this also apply to Shubie Park? Where will the pokemon hunters go?

Nova Scotia wide ban, up to 2 weeks, they’re saying you can still access beaches and provincial parks.

So provincial parks and beaches only. Going to make it a boring week for trail riding I guess. Oh well, at least there is some places to go

Trail systems within the parks will be restricted.

Hmmmm, Wrandees is a Provincial Park…

They are going to have a fun time trying to make people understand what is and what isnt a trail in the parks. heh

It will be interesting to see what they do at shubie park considering how busy it is

I can understand why they are doing this. It is crazy dry out there. There are puddles at Spider that are usually there 365 days a year that are just dirt now. The first one you come to on the doubletrack is a good example. When has that ever been dry before?

I was pretty off the beaten track at Spider Lake on Sunday. I was wilderness riding over an area I have always known to be a swapmy wet mess for a 1.5 kms. It is like riding over a pile of bark mulch right now.

I can’t remember the last time we had sustained rain

Yeah, easy to understand why they are doing it.It’s unfortunate that they have to implement a blanket ban to protect against the few that don’t have the brains (or don’t care) to not do things that might cause a fire though.

I’m not a fan of the road, so I guess I’ll be riding more rails to trails. (Assuming that’s still allowed.)

Hopefully this won’t cancel the Enduro racing that is happening in Scotsburn this coming weekend… That would be a major bummer.

There was an article earlier about the fire crew struggling to control the fires in the western parts of NS. I’m guessing they are nervous that they could have more fire than fire crews.

Technically it’s crown land only.
