Work Day at Nine Mile River Saturday March 4

Planning a work day for this Saturday March 4 at 2:00pm.

The goal for the day is to clear fallen trees off the woods road section from Enfield Road to the intersection of the woods road with the main trail (about 1 km). We’ll be doing chainsaw work (we have chainsaws, but if anyone has their own they would be welcome!) and we’ll need hands to clear cut up wood pieces off the trail. We’ll probably start from the main trail intersection and work our way downhill toward Enfield Road.

If you want to meet us later, walk into the main trail about 10 minutes, and look for the woods road that leads off to the right. There is a large rock on the side of the trail (actually you would pass between two large rocks) just after the intersection, and if you get to the stump-mounted bench near the bird feeder, you’ve gone too far… or just listen for the chainsaws.

We have an exciting year ahead at Nine Mile River Trails! Expanded parking lot, new and upgraded trail (which is why we’re clearing the woods road this weekend), new benches and boardwalks, more drainage (and less mud) work.

Thanks to everyone who volunteers for and supports our trail!

Hope to see you on Saturday!

PS - hoping to ride the cleared section on Sunday.
