Thanks for the good work Monday night we had a great club ride tonight although disappointed to see the skinny tire ruts.
Awesome to see folks enjoying it when it’s mint!
Hopefully everyone lays low during tmmrws melt and then we can get back to rocking it Thursday when it freezes.
Anyone know if Victoria park is being groomed tonight?
Hoping to take advantage of the deep freeze coming tonight with a ride tomorrow or Friday morning.
Bike Truro posts a couple updates almost every day on facebook and instagram.
About an hour ago they were doing a facebook live video out on the groomer. They were debating whether it even needed to be groomed because it was so hard packed already. And that was before the deep freeze. Should be mint for the next few days.
Was just in Spider w the fatty to try to neuter any boot blasting before it froze.
It’s going to be fantastic anytime day/night Thurs, Fri and Saturday morning. No problem rolling reg trail bikes now. Studs may be desired in some places but aren’t a total necessity.
Skull and Major will blow your mind, they’re simpy a frozen singletrack speedway. 10/10. Go crush them!
Replicator is fairly boot blown and rutted 6/10 and has more ice than other trails.
I opened up Inner Peace and Back Door Trail tnite but you will prob want a fatbike since they’re pretty fresh.
Found them on FB. Thanks.
Anyone been out to Norawarren or West Pine? How are things?
The lakes around Halifax look awesome for riding.
The trails in the valley are crusty snow covered with patches of ice.
Skull Trail is still pretty sweet.
Victoria park is amazing right now. Hard, fast snow and ice. A couple of small sections are were boot bombed but nothing that will slow you down.
Rode a bit of Vic Park and Irishman’s today, both hard, fast with some icy spots. Pretty good going if you have studs, ridable with caution with out.
Bird Sanctuary had some icy spots. Studs advisable, although the fella riding with me this evening made it through on a semi fat with no studs with some challenging moments.
Bowater is 75% ice, making some of the climbs really difficult even with good studs. A bit of packed snow in open areas and occasional spots of hero dirt. Jigsaw is frozen slush that has a lot of bootprints in it, but it’s smooth enough on the fatty.
Spider Lake is all time goodness right now, get I while you can, fat without studs and there wasn’t too much I couldn’t ride without caution at least
Just rode Norrawarren onto duck and run all the way to flat lake loop.
Norrawarren is 70% a skating rink which was amazing but studs are needed.
Duck and run was fun but it has ruts from hikers and someone riding skinny tires in the warm weather. Still well worth the ride
Yep skull is as good as it gets right now. Studs recommended for max fun.
Just spent some time in McIntosh Run, Attic Osprey and Lou’s are primarily ice with some snow and few bare patches. Frozen solid and not too many boot holes. I rode Flat Lake from Lou’s to the east end of Bloodline. Its primarily hard packed snow with some ice. Someone rode it soft with skinny tires and left an icy track. Watch the glare ice on some of the corners and climbs.
Irishman’s Road is packed and fast. It was groomed recently but has seen some thaw and freeze since then. Watch the glare ice, studs highly recommended.
Spider was fantastic this morning. There had to be 20 cars parked at 9am. Things were getting soft at around 11 when we came out.
