Bowater, icy in spots but great riding right now.
West pine is mostly ice until the bridge. After the bridge it’s a mixed bag of bare rock, hero dirt, ice and crusty snow.
Where is everyone riding in the city Saturday morning? Thinking the woods will be icy/soggy. I wonder how Fight Trail would be.
Tough conditions lately. Always wondering whether I should be taking off the studs or keeping them on. To @muddy point, what’s rideable right now?
Anyone out there ride yesterday? I rode West Pine Thursday before the rain it was good with studs.
I’m guessing things are clear and firm? Anyone?
Rode West pine yesterday, 85% of snow and ice was gone but it was starting to get soft so we didnt continue onto duck and run.
I’m guessing fight trail would be the best option at this point with all the granite.
This time of year I’ve historically ridden in places such as Hemlock, shubie or similar. Usually the trails are hard enough that the soft(er) trails are less than singletrack. Any damage is usually rectified by walkers very quickly as well.
Anyone been out in the HRM yet?
Whopper is good. Probably okay without studs. Fat bike would be helpful in a few places, but it’s fine with skinnies for most of it.
Rode fight trail this morning and it’s perfect, I rode without studs fyi

Spider good all the way to the back loop
Single track mostly good stuff small amount of ice and a few soft bare patches
Do we take off our studs now? Is winter over?
In the valley, no. I’d keep the studs on a bit longer.
Ridin wreckless and studless since summer
Rode Whopper last night. Hard packed and sometimes loose snow, with patches of thawed mud. Powerlines were a bog show. Lots of downed trees. Moved a few, but need a saw for others.
heading to the city for work tomorrow, hoping to ride fight in the afternoon before i leave. question: do i bring the fat bike or the trail bike?!
Trail bike, but that’s just my opinion.
Trail bike would be my weapon of choice
Agreed, trail bike. Fat bike tires (really knobby ones at least) and granite don’t go together well. It’ll work, but won’t be nearly as fun as your trail bike.
Trail bike it is. Thanks y’all!
