A couple questions:
Whats the reasoning behind having a CNS membership to ride the trails?
Do you get a discount on said membership for volunteering?
why the difference in approach: MRWA vs Topsail?
Generally curious.
Great questions, thank you.
The land owners and cycling nova scotia have an agreement based on the area its in. There is a steering committee that works with land management and also cycling nova scotia.
CNS provides funding for tools and accessories but most importantly insurance to the user. (Which is a requirement)
ATT the simple answer is No, but its not to say that could never happen.
With respect to MRWA, they would struggle to manage this approach as its a multi user trail system with dozens of access points.
Hopefully that answers your questions

Enduro is far more on the ball than i am with the farm business, but insurance is huge. It is on land where I suspect the owner has liability concerns. CNS provides insurance (as mentioned). Having riders insured goes a long way towards alleivating land owner liability issues. Encouraging everyone to pay for a membership ensures that we’ll continue to have access.
If there ends up being a bunch of uninsured riders sneaking in, it puts the project in danger (encourage all your riding buddies to get a membership - a general membership is dirt cheap).
Hey gang
Gonna do a Phat Bike Friday at Topsail “The Farm” trails at 6:30pm.
An hour ride.
A CNS license is required to ride at The Farm.
Gonna head to 9 Locks for a beer after and watch a little playoff hockey. Possibly a fire after that.
C’mon out and have a time!
You don’t need a Fat bike. Just your favorite ride. It’s a chill ride to end the week right.
-The Farm
There is a new bench cut extension from the tower area, meant to cut left on road into the DH.
Please take it easy as there is some exposure.
Work has commenced in the back section.
We are looking for more volunteer’s to move material July 8th 2024.
Also, if you use Strava and the Farm, follow the above group link.
Dirt!
If you are interested in contributing to “The Farm” by donation, CNS has set up a method through NSTrails for community donations.
The page can be found here:
The key is to go into the pull down tab of “Fund” and Cycling NS is very first on the list.
All donations will go directly to The Farm and receipts will be available.
Thank you
Monday night trail work cancelled due to extreme heat warning.
Safety first above anything.

UPDATE:
Very productive weekend at the Farm. We had a volunteer donate machine time on a 1.5 tonne in our initial green climb trail. This trail was roughed in during the spring by some amazing trail builders with alot of experience.
The climb trail is about 70% complete and needs a few more sessions by hand to have it all rolling but will be an amazing addition.
The rest of the system was also given a leaf blow, and the back most technical loop is getting a-lot of love with the hand tools.
Thanks to Cycling Nova Scotia, the land ownership and all of our volounteers/users for making this happen.
CN-out
I was there on Sunday and there was a lock on the door/gate. First time I have seen this. Is this going to be the case moving forward?
There should always be a lock on the both the main gate, and the single person access.
A 4 digit key code is provided to the single person access when you buy a CNS general membership or a single use pass.
CN
I have the code from when I paid for a membership but have never had to use it before.
