Trail conditions

Spider is fantastic. Rode the main trail, ribbon of love, skull, lake major loop, and rep. All of those trails are fast and fun! Didn’t hit up the pipeline or the ATV trails.

Was at Wrandees this evening (Sunday). Rode up the pipeline (stream). It’s all frozen although there’s a just a little slush in places. Didn’t cross the river, but it is frozen enough to cross. Followed the woods trail back. It’s pretty rough. Rode some of it, but had to walk a lot of it, too. Needs more snow to fill in the nooks and crannies. The little bit of snow we had tonight should help a bit.

Anyone been out to Spider Lake the past few days. Thinking about
riding it tomorrow, Sat.

Spider Lake Thursday AM
Main road, Skull, Ribbon Of Love, and Replicator are fast and the best you can get for winter conditions. Other trails are rideable but not near as good. Lots of ice, was glad I had my studs on.

Any word on Wrandees lately?

how’d you find it?

Wrandees is killer! Studs required.

Rode Wrandees Sunday am. It was good. The trail over the dam, up the short climb and then back towards the parking lot is very ridable. Could still use a few inches more of of snow.

The lake was awesome, I rode around on it for a while.

Hey coaster, did you ride the section closer to nw arm drive? Switchback, bridge, red trail, that section?

Rode Wrandees again at 10:30am and it started out pretty good. Went in on the NW Arm Dr side and rode accross the Boy Scout Bridge and all the way around almost to the parking lot on St. Marg Bay Rd, then up the climb and back to the bridge then around all the way almost to Hell and then back around to the Red Trail. It started getting pretty soft on the Red Trail. It wouldn’t be much fun now.

There was a big crew at Spider Lake Sunday morning. Most were riding studs and we weren’t so we headed out on our own. We rode the powerline - to the left as you headed up- and it was a great snow packed ride. There was an ATV through that gave us a rutty track to follow. There is a loong climb to the top of the quarry and then a great slide down to the bottom. Continued along the powerline to the Sissy Trail (you call it the Pipeline) and rode back to the old atv trail and followed it all the way down to Leonard Lake. The back in to the Von Trapp, down the Ribbon of Love, Replicator and done. Studs would have been useful but where the snow was getting grainy you didn’t really need them. Nobody in our group had anything near a slip or fall.

It was great to see so many people out. Might try and do the next Tuesay Night Ride

Wrandees was mostly bare rocks and roots with icy bits that sent two riders home early tonight. Great riding though!

Macdonald Park was packed snow and ice with some bare ground. Really nice studded tire riding.

Fight Trail started out almost all bare with a few icy patches but by the end it was snow covered. :frowning: Glad to have gotten a ride in there…it’s been too long.

Whopper Monday Jan 21st:

Very icy, with granular snow on less open trails.

Hemlock Ravine:

Very icy, gravel patches, fast!

Tuesday night, spider was really icy beneath the freshly fallen snow. Not much snow though. Studs necessary, very necessary. Still tricky with studs.

Wrandees is in good condition. Heading back out for a ride this evening with the Weekly Group Ride. Studs are a good thing, but not necessary.

Any word on current trail conditions since the last snow fall?

Specifically if anyone has any word on Wrandees, Spider/Skull, or Shubie?
