Trail conditions

Thinking of trying wrandees (maybe Red Trail) or whopper later this afternoon like 3sh.

Temperature is -2 now with -4 last night so it shouldn’t be too soft. (my theory anyway  )

Does anyone know the conditions at the Big Three - The Whopper; Fight Trail and Spider Lake?

Looking to ride somewhere tomorrow morning and I’m tired/bored of the Shubie grind

I was out whopper at 3, lots of snow and it was soft (I think the temperature was maybe 2 or 3 degrees.). It was pretty bad.

We need a good rain or some -5 degree weather.

I just drove to Spider Lake, Saturday at 7:00pm.

It would be really difficult to ride here. there has been nothing to pack it down . I broke through with every step and it was deep. I walked up to the start of Replicator and it was the same thing. I didn’t go up the main road but even if that was open I don’t know where you could ride any of the side trails. Deep in the woods like the Ribbon of Love or Skull would be even worse, as it is darker and colder with little or no traffic since Wednesday’s snowfall. Can’t see riding here tomorrow.

I rode Shubie today. Lots of the trails is totally clear. Lots of dog walkers around the area where the dog walkers go (I realize a lot of it is an off leash area but it should be an off leash and under control area) but not too bad most everywher else. If you head out to the Lake Charles extension you will have to ride in a 12" wide icy trail. It’s grippy ice full of chunky ruts. Hardtailers will get a work out. Full suspension guys get a work out too don’t worry. Studs are not necessary.

Sounds like this is where I will be. At least where I start by Mic Mac Mall you can get a km or two before seeing anybody so I can work the lungs and legs. I don’t mind these exercise rides at all. Spring will be here so enough and somebody is going to be 50 in July. I need to get a good base down for entering my twilight years

Anyone been in Spider lately? Wondering if it’s clear yet?

not even close. it is still got snow, its wet as hell and super soft.

Looks like another road ride then. It’s starting to seem like I will never get the new Kona out.

Don’t give up yet, Troy! It will happen. It will so be worth it.

Went to Annima Mundi, in Gaspereau last night to pick up some gear. There were fresh ski tracks… :?

if you want to ride but not on the road then consider shubie park. the entire park is all but open. there are still a few spots with some snow but the main trails are good and the lake charles extension is open to the end. also the secret singletrack is open as well you just need to know the secret. regardless if you park across from mic mac in the new subdivision and ride to the end and back with some loops in the park you can get a decent ride in.

Fight is in great shape! The granite is clear and good to go! We didn’t ride up to halifax rock, so not sure how that part is.

Granite sections at Whopper we’re bare and dry today. Usual wet and muddy sections in between. Very little snow around. Didn’t ride any of the singletrack.

Rode Fight Trail on Easter Sunday at around 1. It was great. Some of the transitions were a little muddy but for the most part it’s plenty dry and ready to be ridden. I suspect Whopper will be similar. Spider is likely still too wet to ride. It will RUIN the trail so please stay away from there.

It was great to ride something besides crusher dust. I just looped through Lou’s Basement in both directions and rode most of the trails in between the start and the Lake at least once in each direction. It was a beautiful day and a great ride

Whopper had some snow in the wooded/shaded sections. Otherwise clear sailing.

I agree with Muddy, great to get out on something other than crusher dust, and to stay away from dirt singletrack like Spider.

The Gorge in Kentville is no where near ready for bikes. Whats not still covered in ice and show is very wet. I was in today doing some bridge work and would guess it will be 3+ weeks before it’s ready for riding.

Shit! It’s supposed to be warm this coming week, but rainy. Hopefully some snow in the dark areas will disappear . Was any of the singletrack raked?

haha raked. No even worth trying right now.

Just got in from some trail work out at Second Lake. It’s pretty darned dry and firm. So surprised. Took the Pulaski out on it’s first adventure. Did some draining, some benching, took out some BIG stumps… Way more flow back there now. I might go get changed and head out for a few hot laps. Seriously, it’s not to bad right now. Looks like last years work is paying off. We’ll see how this snow affects things. BOO!!!

Anybody been in Shubie recently, wondering how much plowing was accomplished in the last couple of weeks.
Thanks

Talked to a biker that was at Shubie yesterday. He had to walk his bike quite a bit. Was soft and squishy(his words)
