Winter Trail Conditions

I need a good location for my NY day ride. I’m thinking shubie or wrandees maybe? Post up the conditions if anyone goes in today or tomorrow please!

I’ll be riding Wrandees tomorrow. (let me know if you’re interested).

Yesterday it was super duper.

Today, after the rain and higher temperatures it sucked too soft. Still good snow cover though.

Tomorrow should be crispy, if weather drops as predicted.

Unfortunately I cannot make the NY ride (no sitter for the offspring).

Also, I seen a call to arms for snowshoers to hit Spider Lake tonight to stomp it flat before the cold snap. If that happens, I suspect Spider would have a nice trail out to skull which was fun last year.

Wrandees is very good. Studs required.

Also, I hear spider has an excellent trail out to skull. I suspect it requires studs too.

Conditions at Spider/Skull were stellar today. New Strava KOM’s were set and it was PR’s all around! Happy New Year!

The Miners Marsh trail is well packed down by hikers if any one needs a mountain bike fix in the Kentville area. It’s short and flat but better then no ride.

We also tried to ride The Gorge, no dice, snow was too soft in there. Maybe if we can get a shovel party and dig out the skills park…

Jealous of anyone who got out!

Has anyone been in Spider or wrandees today? What were the conditions, wrandees especially.

I’m curious as well. Looking to get out tomorrow (Thurs eve).

I’m planning on riding somewhere as well. I’d be interested in order wrandees, spider, or Shubie maybe.

I work til 5ish.

The trails at Reservoir Park in Wolfville are hard packed and ridable. The packed line is a bit narrow in spots but I was able to ride most of it with out too much fuss last night. Some of the switchbacks were tricky but other then that it was great!

Rode Spider/Skull yesterday. Spider area was icy but most of Skull was fine without studs. I will be riding Wrandees this afternoon and will report back.

Studs required at Wrandees, but the trails are great. Only rode the NW Arm Dr. side. Get in there before the rain.

Nine Mile River is OK. Not enough ice for me. Studs not required.

Wrandees has a ton of debris littering the trail. The ground is still mostly frozen with sketchy ice in many spots. Will try to organize a trail clearing party shortly.

No trail is going to be dry enough to ride this weekend.

I’ll be firing up my chainsaw at Spider Lake this weekend to clear the trails of any down tress and then maybe a Shubie ride on Sunday before New England kicks Denver’s ass.

hahahahaha We will see. We have Tom Terrific you know

I shall see what my Sunday has in store for me.

So what’s the word for trail conditions around town. The rain will make them soft tomorrow, but Tuesday it should freeze up a bit.
