2019-2020 Winter Trail Conditons

I have shed a few tears today about the trail closures and then I came across this Instagram post that cracked me up. Indoor trainer on a budget at its finest.

This was posted from his page directly about an hour ago for clarification! Good news a bit, I guess! Hope these trail systems don’t stay closed long, if we all play nicely we will get our toys back after time out.

Nice find!.. So now to determine which trails are Municipal (e.g. Chain of Lakes) and which are Provincial (e.g. BLT)

Kentville has still taken it upon themselves to close their part of the rails trails (if they have jurisdiction to do that?), but I usually head aylsford way anyways.
List of provincial trails vs municipal trails anyone? :joy:

Time to finish the backyard trail.

The BLT and St Margaret’s Bay Rails to Trails trail (Lewis Lake to Hubbards) are open.

However, as mentioned you’re apparently not supposed to drive to them.

Shoulda hit the gorge when I had my last chance :frowning:

It is my understanding that the harvest moon trail has various sections with municipalities having jurisdiction over that area. So, from that I would say that Kentville can shut down their section, but New Minas (or another municipality) can decide to stay open if they wish?

It seems like there is some clarification needed in terms of the boundaries of this state of emergency. I’m still trying to find out if I’m supposed to be at work tomorrow or not.

I’ll build north shore skinnies through my trees if I have to (my yards not very big :joy:)

I 100% plan to use this to avoid any contact with law enforcement even further than normal :joy:
Nope sorry officer I must stay over here. No thanks, no swabs today!

“Why were you continuing to bike and not stop for me?”

I don’t have much room, but my yard is steep. I’m building a little pump line and some technical features to keep busy.

At the same time that Councillors are making the argument for trails to stay open…

It’s going to be a very tight balance act to do it right, I’m afraid it will be very difficult to do in HRM due to the size and population. Hoping the valley loosens up on it after a bit, currently only small sections of the rail trail remain open (wolfville closed, kentville closed, more now I’m sure)

Kings county rail trails good, please do not crowd nor drive to trailheads. Use responsibly and be safe everyone, I am afraid community spread has already began.

Just rode Evil Birch (rode from home) at a nice slow pace.
The start of the trail from the gravel pit has been covered by giant boulders and requires a reroute.I went up the hill parallel to the old trail. The rest of the trail in is in good shape with a few small patches of snow where it drifted in. The loop at the end is 80% snow covered with 5+ cm of sugary snow and is not worth riding right now.

Rode Whooper today and brought along my drill. Cleared some trees that fell in the winds yesterday and repaired the bridges that the moto messed up. No more loose runs. Worst spot for mud is the Minion ext.
