2021 Trail Conditions

Jigsaw(s) in Bowater is primarily damp loam with a few wet roots.

Rode keppoch all day today it’s very very dry… the dirt is pretty loose so traction in the berms was iffy. Free ride was a shit show for traction

There’s rain coming tonight and we’re riding Tommorrow as well. Hopefully it’s light rain just to make the dirt packed and sticking to itself agaij

FYI, I was riding down granitude on Friday and I believe the first jump on the right hand side of the trail looks like it has some of its supporting rocks on the back side coming loose on the right hand side, possibly from people rolling it instead of launching it. I pushed one of the larger rocks back into place, but it probably needs some more shoreing up as it might be at risk for collapsing on that side, which could be a safety issue. Not sure if the rain we had would have affected anything.
I sent an email to MWRA to let them know.
These new trails (and all the McRun trails) are so awesome, thanks to the builders/MWRA for all of their hard work! You guys Rock (literally and figuratively)!

Bowater
Funny Bone: damp loam, wet roots, some new braiding from the motos
E-Z Money: damp loam, some mud, ruts and braiding from motos
Stage Dive (Alp reversed, exiting through the pit): the motos have the corners blown out on Alp so exercise caution

Keppoch was really hot today. The rain last night was drying up pretty quick… there’s quite a bit of loose rock in the trail making it tricky to carry speed through berms.

Also the shuttle blew its tire the last run of the day Saturday which delayed it getting up and running today… 2pm the spare went flat as well

Still a hell of a weekend lots of fun. We did about 12 runs Saturday . Only stufk around til 130 today doing 2 climbs and 4 shuttle runs

Thanks (from everyone)!

That ramp, and a couple of other spots, will definitely need some shoring up or rebuilding with larger rocks. I think MRWA can get crew on it soon, but in the meantime folks should scope this optional feature before hitting it.

Checked out the set up jump on granitude and looks like this

Solid for jumping as of 5pm Sunday but would check it out first on the ride up.

I was wondering how long it would take for that jump to start getting worked. Was almost thinking a ladder jump/drop might be a more durable option. Its gotta be tricky to maintain on top of the granite especially with how dry its been.

That’s definitely an option to consider. The dirt here just turns to powder.

I scooped a bunch of the loose dirt from behind the ramp back onto it, there was a little moisture to help pack it; but I doubt that’ll last long.

Also, in the flowy section that followed there was some damage in the berm. Looked like someone hit the the small rock gap and went through/over the berm. Happy to come out and dig whenever any of these fixes are getting done.

And not to be critical: these trails are amazing and so much fun! Huge thanks to all the crew for their work. :tada:

I’m expecting it to be wet out, but has anyone checked out Orange Jelly/Granitude today?

I didn’t ride there today but the Attic, Lou’s Basement and The Times were pretty good. I suspect it would be OK by now.

Good day ladies and gents,

MRWA trail building crew started today. Working on Spar headed towards divide today and the next few days. We have signs out for the immediate area we are working in but just be aware of trail repairs and some changes to the trails going forward from today.

Cheers!

I rode the Ministers Hill Trail in Hammonds Plains today.

It’s really overgrown and heavily eroded by ATV use.

A few km into the trail, near the bottom of Leeward Ave. a developer is cutting a new road and the trail is blocked by debris.

I ended up cutting out to Sussex Dr. on a really wet moto trial.

There’s a few side trails leading to the lakes, but the ones I found had trash all over the place.

Becaguimec trails are mostly dry with the exception of a few spots on the chat and upstream, the humidity in that area of the woods is high, and the mosquitos are prolific. All trails are trimmed and rideable, watch out for construction on the Becaguimec trail (predominantly walking) - there is a miniature covered bridge being installed below the arena.

MRWA trail crew continues to work in the area of Divide trail at McIntosh Run, so keep your head up.

The jump on Granitude is currently OK (at least it was yesterday) but still crumbly. @adventurer and I have started prepping to replace the ramp with a rock-slab structure, by slicing a giant boulder nearby to make good slabs. Hopefully the rebuild will be in the next week.

I think we have enough slabs to make a bench for spectators.

Looking forward to checking out the trails next time that I’m visiting up home.

Interested in hearing from anyone that winds up at Irishman’s today or tomorrow morning.

Thinking it’s going to be pretty wet but some trails just shed rain better than others. Hoping to go ride tomorrow afternoon but can head elsewhere.

Thanks!

MRWA was great today but granite sheds the water well.

I suspect Irishmans Rd would be good. @riderx, @TrailFlow ? Any thoughts?

Considering the recent rain and how traditionally muddy Nine Mile River has been, it’s in pretty good shape. After the ravine bench there are a few muddy spots and the usual ones out to the lake, but not too bad.
