Looks like Keppoch was also hit pretty Hard. Currently closed. They’re looking to do a trailwork day Oct 1st
Many trees down at Nine Mile. Three crews worked 4 hours on Sunday and got about 1/6 of way into trail. Pitcher Plant Loop is cleared and open. Cleared further but there are some large hazardous leaning or hanging trees not yet removed so not recommending going further than Pitcher Plant.
If people want to get back to riding a number of trails this fall, you may want to seriously consider volunteering/reaching out to the various volunteer trail associations to offer help with the cleanup
Anyone know how the gorge or nine mile faired in the storm
The photos and write about 9 Mile are right above your comment.
Sorry meant empire or irishmans
THIS
Gorge/p2/ bird sanctuary suffered minimal damage. A few down trees that have mostly been cleared but still significant debris on the trails in areas. It’s all rideable with caution.
Overall the Valley didn’t get the same storm that hit eastern NS.
Is there anywhere to ride in Halifax or Dartmouth?
Just rode flipside. It was ok. Short ride though, did not have time to get into the whopper proper.
Big thanks to @Emat and the kind soul who cleared flipside!
We’ve been working through Bowater, but it’s not all cleared yet to my knowledge.
I rode the secret single track at Shubie today. Started up near MIcMac Mall. Only one tree was in the way. It needs a saw. You can’t get up enough speed to hop it
.
Tomorrow I am going to head to Area 25. I will head towards Burnside as far as I can go and on the way back I will hit up IPA and then Line 26. Should be able to string together a decent ride although Line 26 could have some trees down
Clearly I need to do some exploring. I am not familiar with these…
Nine Mile has been cleared almost to Comeau Lake. On Sunday we’ll clear the rest of the way to “the Lake”, and start clearing up to Dipper Lake.
The Bowater trails are a whole lot of this right now.
This is great, thanks folks!!
Somehow, I missed the call for volunteers. Was this on the email list?
Grey Mtn in fantastic right now, all clear and leaf blown. It’s in amazing shape.
Hopefully those guys that throttle everything up saved a little something for their chainsaws.
