was at Irishmans for a short lap this morning. Most excellent.

Hearing a single lap per trail kinda thing, probably not optimal.

Bird Sanctuary and the new Gorge stuff was bloody mint today tho.

Wrandees pipeline and rose bowl are really good even for skinnies. Get it while ya can.

We were there yesterday. I agree it was great!

The Farm Report: excellent fatbike conditions.
Rolling smooth and fast, a bit of loose granular in a few places. Solid surface.

I snowshoed a few laps on one of the Jigsaw Trails at Bowater yesterday. The snow is soft and has a low moisture content. It’s packed in well but hasn’t really set, so traction isn’t that great on the climbs. The dog walkers and trail runners have found it and there’s post holes in several spots (I wish these folks would discover how great snowshoes are). Only one trail is packed so it’s probably not worth the drive if you aren’t local. Also, there’s a considerable amount of doggie-doo on the climb up to Coon Pond.

Dog walkers/Trail runners have changed the game for winter riding for sure.

Another thing in bowater you need to be cautious of is the narrow roads and high speed ATV action in blind crests.

For packing trails:

A few walkers = bad
A lot of walkers = good

Wrandees pipeline loop and rose bowl are stellar right now, thanks to all the walkers.

Where to ride tomorrow (in the greater Halifax region) with studded skinnies when trails will be firm and icy. The farm? Lower Macintosh?

Irishman’s is closed today - Feb 25. for an archery event.

Reports are that the farm is mint.

Just rode lower Macintosh (studded skinnies). West Pine and Gutterball good for riding. Granitude and Boulderama not so good (not well packed down, lots of deep hiker footprints). Other trails a mix bag.

The Farm is in great shape. Just a couple of soft spots in the sun on the back loop. I rode 2.8s. Studs not required.

A big chunk of Bowater is decent. We rode Crooked Finger, Dump Run, Alp (Exit Stage Right), EZ$, and did Lake Shore from the gate all the way out to the end of the road off of Boreal Line. All were excellent.

Jigsaw, Knuckle Buster, Funny Bone etc were not rideable. If they got some snowshoe love, they’d be great.

For the next 35hrs, The Farm is mint, best conditions ive seen during winter in HRM in years.

Firm enough for regular mtb tires?

Maybe first thing in the am, i was on studded 2.8s and it was perfect.

I will update tmmrw mid day based on temps.
