Current Trail Conditions

“This s&!#‘s somethin’. Makes Cambodia look like Kansas.”

As always happens at this time of year SSS is very overgrown in places (which just adds to the fun), but ride cautiously.

Nine mile is in great shape right now
Both new trails are open and allow plenty of options

The Farm had volunteers in all weekend with some fine tuning on the back40 and a revamp of some legendary jumps.

Conditions are great.

Please remember to sign in.

I did a lap of Jimmy’s Roundtop today. The Fire Road from Joshua Slocum to McGee’s Corner is great. Old Halifax Rd. from the fire road down to the paved section of Old Halifax Rd. is also great. Old Coach Rd. and the Old Halifax Rd. (Wooden’s River end) up to the paved part is overgrown and rough with a lot of puddles. SMATVA has been leveling and gravelling the roads.

I’ll add on that everything from the fire road to otter lake is good, and the westernmost fork of greenhead road is good all the way out to the 103

NSP did some clearing on the service road and power lines in Whopper last week. They do this every few years for maintenance. In some areas it improved the trail for biking, but it’s a muddy mess in a few places until it has a chance to dry out.

There is a report of a hornets’ nest under the long bridge on Boulderama that crosses Porcupine Creek.

Rode Nine Mile last night and cleared a couple of trees. The main trails are good to go. Didn’t ride the Hemlock loop. There was a report of a downed tree there before the woods closure so it’s probably still there.

Just curious what the deal is with that one blocked new trail at 9M, its been there, closed for a long time.

Watch out on Clark Kent. On our way back to the trailhead tonight there was a bunch of rocks moved into the middle of the trail that were not there when we started.

The new trail has been under construction. It ‘s been a process. It was mostly built at the same time as Spruce Ridge. It needed some massive boardwalks and stream crossings, which needed fundraising, and then scheduling to get Trailflow in to build them. When you see the boardwalks you’ll see what I mean. The trail is getting close to opening. If not for the woods closures it would probably be open now.

Anyone ridden the gorge lately? Haven’t been there in years and was thinking about heading there before the seasons over.

Minister Hill Trail is the best it’ll ever be. Make sure to take the route around the swamp though.

Whopper down through the burned area to the lake is all cleared now, and a few new rock roll features built/uncovered.

Had a good crew out @Jetter @Lukas_Poole @camurray @ksue

Big Hubley still isn’t ideal, but is somewhat passable. Might be fully passable on a 29er or fat bike
