'Unofficial' Sportwheels Fall/Winter rides

Er “some trails” not “same trails”

I even rode the lake, at least where it crept up the beach. We had a great time last night. Keep tuned in for next weeks festive fun ride! Be there. Any bike will do. Tame road ride-ish stuff. And warm treats…

Just checked the weather and it seems it is cold enough that the ground should freeze up a bit. Lets hit Spider Lake Sunday am. 9:30 am start.

See you there!

This coming Tuesday December 21st we are planning a very special ride. We are going to take a leisurely ride enjoying the decorated houses in Sackville. We will still meet at Sportwheels at 6:45 in the back parking lot and proceed from there.

We are planning some prizes for best decorated bike, best costume etc. so come join us and celebrate Christmas on any bike you may have. This will be a very easy paced ride suitable for anyone!

I have a couple of spare lights to loan out if you require one.

Please be highly visable for this one. Roads aren’t like the woods.

And… I’ll be there with BELLS on.

Me and my Superflashes will be there. Also, lets see who has the best ugly Christmas sweater!

I will be catering the event with a pedal powered cider machine as well as bringing you through my old hood and riding haunts. Very quiet streets and a few urban trails and paths. Lord willing, I’ll be done work in time to make this one!!! And I might even bring a harmonica and a hands free holder so I can play carols and ride at the same time!

So, get those lights, garlands, bows or whatever ready to go. This will be a great opportunity to bring a friend along or the kiddie trailer. All you need is a bike and some cozy clothing. See you there!

Seems that mother nature is playing with us a bit. Let’s postpone the First Annual Christmas Light Ride to Wednesday evening.

Same Time, same place Wednesday Evening! More time to get prizes lined up for riders!

This sounds like asn awesome time. If I wasn’t sick as a dog I’d be there for sure. Have fun guys!

Yes, whoever can still make it, please do! I have a covered spot lined up where I will be serving hot spiced apple-cranberry cider. So be there!!! It should be a rather festive, laid back event. So, just a reminder that the ride originally schedualed for tonight has simply been POSTPONED until tomorrow, Wednesday the 22nd, at Sportwheels. Meet around 6:30- 6:45. We will be riding right from the shop for a change. Dress appropriately, safely, brightly and festively! And please bring a head and tail light if you can. Thank you! And see you there!!!

Don’t forget to decorate your bike tonight if you are so inclined. Santa might even see it on the way by!

SANNNNNTTTTAAAAAAA!!!

Awesome Time! Some great bikes, even better apple Cider and snacks a la Rally Kia.

I’ll have some pics of the bikes online soon enough!

Fantastic time! Next time, I’m bringing the nikon tho

Great ride last week, folks. Looks like it’s going to cool down and possibly snow a bit tomorrow. Which is nice. I’m planning on making it out, so meet at the shop at the usual 6:30-6:45pm and we’ll see who shows and where we’ll go! Bring proper clothes and a light, if you have one. There may be 1 or 2 loaners kicking around. See you tomorrow night!

NO RIDE TONIGHT!

My bad. I forgot we weren’t riding until the New Year. Sorry for the false excitement folks. See you all NEXT Tuesday night.

Is there actually a place around to ride without a crust of snow?

We’ve all filled our guts with Turkey and celebratory beverages so now let’s keep that new years resolution and burn some of the calories off!

Tuesday the weekly rides will return. We are calling for some favourable weather and although some of the singletrack is a bit soft the gravel paths are clear of any major snow or ice as of tonight (Saturday).

So bundle up, charge your lights and meet at Sportwheels about 6:30-6:45 for a ride!

All are welcome and there are loaner lights available for use if you call ahead. ( 865-9033 ask for Mike)

I don’t find a crust of snow to be too bad to be honest. When there’s 3 ft of soft powder that seems to put a damper on things. Then it’s time for snowshoeing or skiing/snowboarding!

I rode Shubie tonight (Saturday) and although there was some snow/ice in patches it was easily riden over or around without studs.

Whoot! Back to spring-like conditions.

Tuesday will be our first potential ride in the snow.

We’ll meet at the shop as per our usual time (6:30-6:45). I’ll check out some trails to see what shape they’re in and will go to the best option.

I plan to check out some trails this evening and post up whether we’re riding or walking!
